The scape is trimmed off the plant to allow the bulb to develop. The garlic scape has a softer and less pungent garlicky flavor than garlic cloves.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/growagoodlife.com\/harvesting-garlic-scapes\/\">How to Harvest Garlic Scapes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Garlic scapes are only available for a limited time from late spring to early summer. If you don&#8217;t grow your own garlic, look for scapes at your local farmers&#8217; market.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Grill Garlic Scapes<\/h2>\n<p>In this grilled garlic scape recipe, a sweet smoky char enhances the simple mild garlicky flavor of the garlic scape.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Prepare the garlic scapes<\/h3>\n<p>Rinse the garlic scapes under clean running water. Trim the ends and tips if they are brown.<\/p>\n<p>If you find the lower stems ends to be fibrous, gently bend each stalk until it snaps. Each scape will snap off right above the spot where it turns woody.
